txt alerts

A client of mine is looking to have txt alert's sent to user's mobile phones. A while back I came across some countries offering this functionality, however they were charging about 5 cents per outgoing txt meaning the owner would have to initially invest in a pool of txts to share with his users, etc.

I have since come across some sites that allow you to send txt messages for free. If they can send them for free then they must not be paying for them and losing money each time someone sends a txt or two.

Does anyone know of a way for me to accomplish this feature for my client? How can I make it so if a user wishes, they will receive a generic txt msg on their phone letting them know that they received a message for example?

avoid all the free ones and gimmicks, sign up with a reputable sms gateway

Thanks. I didn't know if there was a library or class out there some where that I could implement to send messages for free. It sounds like I can't. 🙂 I'll pass this information on to my client. Do you recommend any reputable gateways? I'll start researching again. Thanks! 🙂

I could only recommend ones in N.Z I'm guessing you live else where. i would start by phoning your cell provider, most of them have gateways of one description or another.
