File search question

Hello,

Is there a php script that could do the following:

I would like to specify a file extension and have the script search
a drive letter or perhaps all attached drives on the computer
for any file with that specific file extension. Then I could list them
and select one for uploading.

If it's on a Linux OS, I'd exec out to the shell and issue a find command, which allows for more complex options later.

Kim I think you need to be clearer about what you're trying to accomplish. Generally speaking, PHP runs on the server and cannot search the hard drives on your desktop or laptop. Of course, you could install php on your desktop or laptop, but you cannot write a server-side PHP script to search a visitor's machine.

If you had said search all connected drives for a file to download that would be a different matter...
