Hi all, i'm new here (my first post) and i reallly need some help! :queasy:

I wanna calculate a field from last 30 results from database with php math and i ca't do it...

can anywone help me?

whoa i don't have any code for this but this is what i need

In sql i have the table called "total". Fields are "id, visits, visitors, day, month" and i want to calculate the "visits" field from database (the last 30 results or the last 30 days)

Example:

day | month | visits
1 | 1 | 10
2 | 1 | 15

i want to calculate the visits from this result like 10+15 but i cant figer out how..

You may want to consider doing the maths in the database.

select sum(visits)
from total
where day between $today and $today - 30

You'll need to tweak the "where" clause to something useful.

If you need the individual days' data, then you would select it all and then use a loop to do the calculation.

I wouldn't use a loop, as that is slower than letting the database handle the calculation. Just pull out the fields you want plus 'sum(visits) as total, and then use a group by to logically group rows where necessary

Okay, my php code was something like this

$sql = "select sum(hits) from total";
$result = mysql_query($sql);
while ($rank = mysql_fetch_array($result)) {
echo$rank['hits'];}
?>

..but i haven't get any response only a blank page...why?
.. i think i made something wrong ..but .. what😃?

Well, you've defined the result of the query in $result, but then I think call it $rank in your while loop. The undefined variable shouldn't give you a blank page though, as that usually indicates a fatal error. Your other problem might be the lack of a space after your echo statement.
