[RESOLVED] Undefined HTTPS

Trying to redirect users from http to https using the following function

function redirectToHTTPS()
{
  if(empty($_SERVER['HTTPS']) && $_SERVER['HTTPS']!="on")
  {
     $redirect= "https://".$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];
     header("Location:$redirect");
  }
}

But get the following:
Notice: Undefined index: HTTPS

How to fix the above problem?
(Isn't HTTPS a predifined variable in PHP? )

Not always this has got a value.
So you better add this test if(isset($_SERVER['HTTPS']) && ....
Several SERVER variables can differ from server to server.
Some are not used.

Thanks for the reply. I already have tried it but then redirection doesn't happen (stays on http).

may help to run

 print_r($_SERVER);

to check that your server is returning what you expect it to, not all settings exist on all setups

You could verify your SSL is on port 443 and use $_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] to check for a secure request.

The site is on a hosting server. Is there a possibility that the ssl port my change at some point or is this the strict standard?

It is highly unlikely as it is the standard port for SSL.
