Search Box...

I have 5 textboxes, I have javascript that if a user enters a value in one the other four are disabled. What I want to be able to do is on the next page get the value of whichever has a value entered in it.

$POST['Box1'];
$POST['Box2'];
$POST['Box3'];
$POST['Box4'];
$_POST['Box5'];

One on time it might be box 3 that has a value another it might be box 5... how can i tell? and hold that as a variable SearchField = ...

Given that the posted data will be in the form you describe above:

$SearchField = false;

for($i=1; $i<6; $i++)
{
    if(!empty($_POST['Box'.$i]))
    {
        $SearchField = $_POST['Box'.$i];
        break;
    }
}

if($SearchField === false)
{
    throw new Exception ('No data posted in any of the 5 search boxes');
}

So then $SearchField would have the value of whatever text was given. Now, do note that this will stop on the first one.

Two questions,

1. the textboxes are not the same name, It's like Name, Password, Phone
2. how do i get the value of the correct one?
