Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows of any open source php staff management script out there, hopefully free...
I looked on php.resourceindex.com and hotscripts.com (the only two script database websites that I know of) and couldn't find anything under "staff management"...

what features are you looking for?

      Ideally:
      - create schedule of shifts
      - allow employees to swap schedules with each other
      - require employees to punch in and out

I am currently using WebCalendar and I'd love it if there was a way to do it with that but the project seams a bit dead and would require a lot of custom code so I am considering either using two scripts (webcalendar for project scheduling) and a different one for shifts scheduling or switching to something completely new like Project Open

Sorry, I'm not aware of any real php-based scheduling software that does all that. I had thought about something like that, but I haven't seen anything "open source".

I found some more that are really cool but are not installable (rather hosted elsewhere) or fee-based services:

            another good resource:
            http://www.schedulesimple.com/

they also seem to promote this:
            timeforge.com/

which has interesting features and pricing

still looking for a free open-source solution...

              marcnyc,

I'm one of the founders of www.TimeForge.com .... and we do also maintain the list of scheduling software found at Schedule Simple.

Having been in this business for a long time, and a proponent (and user) of Open Source software, I can tell you that you aren't going to find any OS php projects with the feature set you are looking for. There's a lot of nitty-gritty details that fall into human resources / labor management, and they don't seem to lend themselves to projects that open source developers want to work on.

Orange HRM has a nice solution, though I don't think it addresses your functionality directly.

How many employees do you need to schedule? Our product is pretty economical ....

                Thanks for your input Anthony

I have come across your product while doing my research and I have to say it was one of the ones that caught my eye for its functionalities.

Unfortunately I have to stick to open source solutions because I am looking to schedule interns who volunteer their time to learn and therefore I cannot afford to invest money on this. I am willing to invest some time, which is also why I like Open Source... It's not only free but it allows me to add the features I want and need and then let the entire community benefit from the time I spent to create new features. It's a win win situation and it's fine open source projects are always the ones that work the best, have the most feature and the most users.

                  Hi marcnyc,
                  have you tried http://timetrex.com

I am also looking for a script, but only for employee leave requests.

                  Anyway, all the best
                  clewis
