Proposal language supporting php

I'm putting together a fairly large proposal for a site that we plan to build in PHP / MySQL. During the Q&A portion of the process the company issuing the RFP said they were a Microsoft shop so probably would favor a Microsoft solution.

Can anyone help me with some facts or langauge that would quickly convince them that PHP not only is a solution they should consider but actually is the better choice?

Not without knowing all the details (which, obviously, can't be given here); if they're a Microsoft shop then I can easily see ASP.NET/SQL Server being the better choice.

They're a Microsoft shop in that they use Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. They don't have a bunch of .Net or SQL Server applications already built. It's simply their sense that because they use Microsoft products, a .Net site would be a better option.

The fact that they use MS Office doesn't mean their Web site should be developed in .Net any more than using Open Office would dictate use of PHP. I'm simply looking for some language to support using PHP over .Net.

Well it would really be based on the their it requirements for the rfp.
If they will be integrating now, or in the future with microsoft products then it would make more sense to go .Net. You may be more comfortable doing things in php and mysql but really let the needs dictate the technology. If like you said the client has no inherit need for .net and simply wants it because somebody told them its what they need then yes you can explain the alternative and say everything needed to run lamp is free... amoong other reasons. But remember they are the one's with the money so if yoru bosses are like mine they are not going to bend the client to make their employee's happy, quite the opposite.
