Help with profile page

Hello everyone this is my first post here and I am new to php. My question is I have wrote this small php for friends and its basically a profile page among us and everything is working fine with user name and everything but what I am looking for is that people who dont have profile can view our information without changing anything just to show.
How would a guest know which profile he/she looking for . Like www.mysite./myname and it comes up with my profile but how do i do implement to my code. And excuse me for my poor explanation trying to give as much as details possible 🙂.
Basically I am trying to generate a code when you click on the link it show only that persons profile pulls the info from data base just for that person. Pretty much public view for the profiles we have. I hope someone can help me with this. 🙂

Suppose you have a php page on your server called 'page1.php'.

If you were to visit http://yoursite.com/page1.php?username=cgmayhem, then you could type this code in page1.php to access the value of 'username' supplied in the url:

echo "the supplied username is " . $_GET['username'];

As far as which profile someone is looking for, you need to provide a list of links or perhaps a search box or something.

Your post is a little confusing so I'm not sure exactly what you want to do.
