.htaccess redirects

Hi everyone, I know .htaccess isnt php but i thougt i might get lucky here because my experience says that if you use alot of php youre gonna wind up using .htaccess one time or another 🙂

i want to redirect this page:
www.mydomain.com/dogfight___i_4000_fod-p-463.html

to this page:
www.mydomain.com/dogfight___i_4000_fod-p-512.html

but when i use the code

Redirect 301 /dogfight___i_4000_fod-p-463.html http://www.mydomain.com/dogfight___i_4000_fod-p-512.html

it adds this to the url:
http://www.mydomain.com/dogfight___i_4000_fod-p-512.html?products_id=463
which sends me back to the old site again. How can i make sure the website doesent add the ?products_id=463 part using .htaccess?

First, is the .htaccess in the root of http://www.mydomain.com? Try putting the redirect in the subfolder (dogfight). When I click the link it takes me to http://www.mydomain.com/dogfighti...fod-p-463.html and not http://www.mydomain.com/dogfighti...fod-p-512.html?products_id=463 displays a 404 then goes to the main mydomain.com page.

Are you paying 5.75 a month for wordpress?

Sorry for not clarifying but i dont actually own www.mydomain.com it was just an example. I dont have wordpress, but some other company is providing the backend system, which i cannot change, so i have to overwrite it somehow.

What about dogfight? Do you have access to that folder? If you don't there is nothing you can do.

there is no folder named "dogfight" its a dynamic address, but i cant see what that has to do with anything?
