i am trying to call the function when the form is submitted.

am i doing it right?

if that is correct way to call the function does it mean my server does not have stmp server?

you can also check what mail() itself returns

$foo=mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);
var_dump($foo);

way to fix that would be for members to add the mailer@website.com to their contact list or there are other?? OR is it because my email contains HTML??

It is not because of HTML.

Mail inboxes spam filters are triggered by some special words,
possible some images names, too.

Maybe only one word in your sent mail message.
What word this is is difficult to tell.
Guess you just have to try & test until you have taken that special word away.

There are always other words to use and to say the same thing.

if your server is running span assassin you can view the email headers for why it was considered spam.

You might also want to make sure your "Return-path" header matches your "Reply-to" header. I had a lot of trouble with my email getting stuck in spam filters (especially Barracuda) until I got that worked out.

BTW - if you're using Apache like I am, you will find that you can't change the Return-path from within your code. You have to change it in the Apache config files.

I also strongly recommend implementing the Pear Mail package. It's just a matter of downloading the PHP files to include in your code. It is soooooo much easier than trying to construct your own multi-part mime email.

Can you show us which headers you're supplying to the mail() command as well?
