Mine:

ATM: firefox (for testing/debugging) was using opera for a while but got bored i switch hehe from time to time.

Dreamweaver CS4, beauty but freaking memory sucker!! love the new feature of the included files in file show on the bar.

Navicat 8, F6 console, mmm cant get enough so easy to connect and work with ur databases.

Fireworks 8, bits of graphic adjustments.

iTunes, for music 🙂)

Skype, for talk.

I program at my with my own Apache 2.2 + PHP 5.3 + MySQL5 server in my PC.

I write my code into php editor:
PHP Designer 2007 Personal (v5.0.2) free version

Then I save the code in page directly into ...Apache/htdocs/folder
I have basically 1 folder for each project I am workning on,
but also one /htdocs/temp/
folder for whatever quick test I want to run
with some code I post here at phpbuilder.com

Then I open php page in those folder using Firefox
while I still have code in PHP Designer Editor
and look for eventual errors/notices and correct and refine

and Save + Firefox refresh again.

Today I have been working and testing my little Template Engine.
I was lucky 🙂
I did one Template finished using only Firefox based on CSS.
Then I wanted to see how screeweed same page would look in Internet Explorer and my other browsers.
To my big surprise the CSS + Page worked 100% in them all without any changes/workarounds!
This is certainly not usually the case.
I use for testing webpages:

Firefox 3.5
Internet Explorer 7.0
Opera 10.10
Apple Safari 4.0.4
SRWare Iron 4.0.280 (a better honest version of Google Chrome)

the temp folder is good idea, i just call mine php in whichever site root i am working in so i dont have to leave the root but still be able to test the script and debug it before i put it in the actual process.

never tried PHP Designer 2007, will have to test it out. the reason i like dreamweaver alot is that it automatically uploads my pages upon save to the server so i do not have deal with ftp. Also very easy opening pages that are linked to the certain page, external css - js - inc.php

I use Zend IDE, and occasionally vim, on a PowerMac G5 with Safari, Opera, Firefox, and VirtualPC for Internet Exploder. I have PHP 5.2.11, Apache 2.2.13, MySQL 5.0.41 and PostgreSQL running on it.

Oh, I also have a large pneumatic hammer (I got tired of beating my brains in manually), and a good coffee maker 🙂

Locally I work on a Win7 notebook with Wampserver installed running Apache 2.2, MySQL 5.1, and PHP (various versions which I can switch between). I'm currently using Komodo Edit, Filezilla FTP, and StarUML.

i got an XPS M140 with XP on it which I had for five years but just now started seriously getting into php I was fooling around with coldfusion and asp and then again my ex >< all done with i chose php instead and casual sex 🙂

locally I got Apache 2.2 MySQL 5.x PHP 5.x

I know WAMP is nice to install a working enviroment, next project i will do locally for now since the guy i am working with is miles away I have to work with a server that busts my ass and makes me pissed >< hehe

and the excellent 'beyond compare' for comparing files on complex projects when svn is not enough

I switched to Mandriva Linux 2010.0.

Just set up the enviroment, XAMPP.

I like it alot the quickness and maybe cuz its different from windows that I have been using my whole life.

The 10 sec instant on feature is awesome. I will need a little time to get use to it but Its fun. The only minus is my Creative Web Cam that I use for Skype don't have a driver for it. Suxxx Need to buy new one lol 🙂 Otherwise Mandriva ROCKS!

On my laptop I'm still using an old version from when they were still called Mandrake (it's an old laptop, too).

If you're doing freelance web development, I found that a laptop with all the workings (dbms, Apache, PHP, browser, etc., etc.) installed is a useful prop in meetings with clients and potential clients. Sitting in a hotel lobby or in the public library's café is usually more pleasant and certainly more neutral than either party's home turf.

Oh, and I guess I ought to mention; the same laptop dual-boots to WinXP; it thrashes virtual memory trying to find enough headroom to run Explorer.
