Dreamweaver and PHP!

Hi all, i hope you can help.
i have created a few basic websites and am just trying to create an online shop one, i thought it would be easiest to download a template shop, which i have done as i thought it would be the easiest and quickest option but now i have i cannot view it in dreamweaver. they are PHP files. i have gone through all the help directories, i have downloaded a PHP as directed in dreamweaver helpl but to no avail!
my site is hosted by fasthosts.com - does this make a difference?
Any advice you can offer will be greatly as it is driving me mad!

I think you are expecting Dreamweaver to be running the php code and then showing you the page

I do this by installing one of the 'wamp' packages e.g. xampp which lets you run your own machine as a web server

I'm not sure if latest version of DW does this for you - but that's the thing that is needed - otherwise you will see the code but no finshed web pages

an alternative is to upload to your actual webserver and preview there, but I dont recommend that as it's a long winded process

Not really; if you have DW set to auto upload to your remote server, the "process" is as simple as clicking the Save icon (or Control+S on your keyboard, if you're too lazy to move the mouse 😉).
