[RESOLVED] IIS 5 on XP pro PHP 5

i have installed in a LAN an XP pro with IIS 5... i installed the latest version of PHP on it with fastCGI....

it seems that , when 2 users access the website on the machine... IIS finds hard to serve all contents, for example i get the page but no the Css included... or doesn't load all images in the page....

i thought it was because i have to convert to PHP-isapi, but i saw on php.net that the only chance to install php on windows is fastCGI since latest php versions....

so i think the problem is on the IIS configuration.... or maybe XPpro+IIS5 can't serve more than a request? i thought i have 10 concurrent request...

any help please?

Your first problem is that you're trying to use a desktop/client OS as if it were a server OS. The problem may very well be caused by XP limiting inbound TCP connections - there are patches/programs you can download that modify the tpcip.sys driver to increase the limit.

Another problem is that you seem to think that 10 concurrent requests is plenty to handle 2 users, when in fact it probably isn't. If you have a webpage that has two images, a CSS document, and a JS document, then 1 user loading that page only once will make 5 requests from your server; one each for the page and separately linked resources (images, CSS documents, JS scripts, etc. etc.).

thanks for your answer... it is just like what i thought...
if i do as u suggested : download patches or Sw to modify the tcpip.sys...
do u think i'll really solve the problem or it will be a patch...running as long as it can...
so maybe if the users become 3 or 5 i'll have the problem back to me?

i'm thinkin i better move to a ubuntu+apache solution... i hope this will not take me many days to understand how to set it up correctly... any link to easy tutorials (LAMP) is appreciated

thanks to ubuntu community and online docs...i got my ubuntu LAMP server working
with all services ready in 6 hours...
not bad to be my first time... i personally suggest u to discard the iis option...

Agreed... only I'm forced to use it at certain locations due to other Micro$oft services/software.
