formatting the sql output

hey all

ive been trying to do this for a few days and i think my brains gone into meltdown 😕, i want to format the output from sql so it alternates the order each time it loops through the array.

for example
image price description
description price image

then back to the first order

anybody got any clues where to start 😃

Use the modulus operator on a counter variable to alternate styles between rows, e.g.:

$i = 0;
while( /* retrieve data from SQL */ ) {
  if($i++ % 2 == 0)
    echo "Odd row\n";
  else
    echo "Even Row\n";
}

that makes sense but how do i apply the style to the odd and even rows.

Well rather than echo'ing the text "Odd/Even Row"... actually echo the data that should go in each type of row. In other words, output the SQL data in whichever order you want (or just arbitrarily pick one order for the odd rows, if you don't care which gets used first) for the two different conditions.
