hello there! I would just like to solicit some advice on how to compare 2 images having different filenames using php. thanks..

there's no native php tools i know of for comparing the binary data that is two images. what sort of information where you looking for?

"Compare" is such a vague description of what you want to do...

You could use use [man]getimagesize/man to get info on the image mime type as well as the height and width in pixels. Beyond that, it would depend on your precise needs in terms of "comparing" the images.

That sounds pretty tough. You mean you want to secure your website based on a webcam image?

Apparently Google Picasa has built-in face recognition so the API might help, but I'm guessing this is more like recognising something is a face, not if it's a particular face.

php wouldn't be my first choice for such a task.

Unless you want to use the API of an existing application or online service, or if for some other reason you need to implement the matching yourself, and assuming you want acceptable reliability, you'd also need a fair amount of domain knowledge (because you're going to have to explain how you would make the comparison - in explicit detail - to the computer); or collaborate with someone else who does.

I think there is no php tool available for comparing images with binary data.
