[RESOLVED] Regex Help

Trying to replace all occurrences of ANSI's with hyperlinks .. such as:
ANSI Z89.2003, Type 1, Class E
ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2009 Class E and G
ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2009, Class C

$string = preg_replace('[A]+[N]+[S]+[I].(Class)+[A-Z]', '<a href="">$0</a>, $string);

I'm not so hot at Regex's yet...

Eh, gotta start somewhere. You are right, though... your regexp pattern needs a bit of work. And by a bit... I mean a lot. :o For future reference, I've always found this site to be an excellent resource for learning about regular expressions.

Based on the sample data you provided, here's my stab at a regexp pattern:

@ANSI(?:/ISEA)? [A-Z0-9.-]+,? (?:Type [0-9]+, )?Class [A-Z](?: and [A-Z])?@

EDIT: Also note that the above pattern will be case-sensitive; if you want to do case-insensitive matching, add the 'i' modifier at the end.

Thanks Brad. Works like a charm. I will continue to study regex as I know how powerful it can be.
