Help - being held to ransom

Can anyone give me some advice - my web guy is holding me to ransom
He has suspended my site and will not take my calls or answer emails
This is a crucial time as have some influential people watching, is there anything I can do to get it back up. I do not have any of the access codes as when he took over the management of it last year, I stupidly trusted him with everything.

Is there any hope that I can get my site up with out having to wait up to 8 hours to contact him?

Do you seriously expect to get an answer to a question like that? We don't even know what these "access codes" you're talking about are or what they do.
