apache crashes

hey, i installed wamp 2.0i on my computer, everything works fine untill i open localhost. when i open it, apache crashes and gives me this error message:
"Apache HTTP Server has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

and the error signature is:
szAppName : httpd.exe
szAppVer : 2.2.11.0
szModName : libapr-1.dll
szModVer : 1.3.3.0
offset : 00014a9c

can anyone help me? i searched this problem and found out that i needed to delete the wamp registery, but i couldnt find it.

Having never used WAMP (nor ever suggesting it or supporting it), I don't much about fixing errors with WAMP itself. I've always suggested people go the route of installing the pieces separately (Apache, PHP, MySQL, etc.) so that a) it's done right, and b) they learn how each piece is installed and configured, so that upgrading/troubleshooting/reinstalling in the future is a breeze thanks to experience gained.

Where did you look?

Also, could you add the libapr-1.dll to a .zip archive and attach it to your next post?

i looked in HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software
but didn't find anything.

The .zip file you attached was corrupted (I couldn't open it in WinZip or Windows XP itself, and those are the only two tools I have available at the moment). Could you try simply renaming the libapr-1.dll file to libapr-1.txt and attaching it like that?

i also checked over there, found nothing.
about the .dll, i think its because i renamed it to .zip instead of .rar (it didnt let me upload it).

Couldn't manage to download the file from that website... the "Download" button did nothing (most likely due to the scripting errors on the page).

Can you tell me what your system's timezone is set to? To do so, double click on the clock in the notification area and you should get the "Date and Time Properties" dialog - the timezone setting will be listed on the Time Zone tab.

I can't find it again, but I had read somewhere that someone had discovered that Apache no longer crashed when they changed their timezone to something other than GMT+2 (or perhaps a different local selection that still had a GMT+2 offset). I had a feeling this might be related to your problem, especially since the offset you posted above seems to be within a function called "_apr_time_exp_gmt@12".

Honestly, though, even if this is the same problem you're having, I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it since it's a WAMP installation. You can try Google'ing to find ways to completely uninstall WAMP and delete all traces of information it leaves behind and then see if a fresh install works... other than that, my only suggestion is to ditch the WAMP project and install the individual pieces yourself.

Also, just as clarification.. when I referred to the "offset you posted above," I was referring to the 0x00014a9c offset in the DLL. I was curious as to what function that offset belonged to, which is why I had asked for you to upload a copy of the file so I could examine it.

If a re-install of WAMP doesn't help, feel free to start a new thread here if you get stuck installing things manually. I've done it numerous times and made (and then learned from 😉) numerous mistakes over time, so I'd be glad to share any insight I've gained.
