[RESOLVED] content pagination

i have a site the pulling the main content of the page form a field in a database. what i like to do is split the content multiple pages when the page get two long. i can not seem to find anything like this or idea on how to create this type of function. any idea or place to start looking, best example i can think if is what wordpress does when you in break tag.

Do you mean you want to show 40 words for example on a front page and have the user click read more to see the full content? like most blogs do? if so:

i found two funtion that might work that explode() and preg_split(). but i don't know witch could be better method.

in my quest for this, i come up with two method. witch one would be the most effective?
