Creating a Logger

Hi,

Could someone suggests what is the better way to create a logger which log users action. maybe a class log? but where to call??

what information should the system log?
what is the database structure as it will grow very big quickly

what do you want to log? what do you plan to do with the information?

You can use the [man]error_log/man function to write whatever you want to the default PHP error log, or use the optional arguments to write it to another file of your choice.

dagon, im trying to log user activities basically to help improve my sites. e.g: to know what users are searching for, what they are viewing.

I would see if Google Analytics provided what you wanted before considering writing something your self. most sites will also so have n an apche access log.

anw i wanna create a logger because i wann track user activities, like user preferences, stuff like that. i would then use this info to better enhance the website experience for individual users. for example, to provide specific advertisement for each users based on their browsing activities.

if "user activities" is what page(s) they visit then it does, otherwise no. But the term is vague.
