Php 4 to php 5

Hi,

Im just coming back to php after and extend break and i cannot work out why the following code simply comes up blank in php5 when it works fine in php4.

Can you please help.

i'm guessing its a short tags issue

change <? to <?PHP

i bet if you view the page source you will see the php

Just FYI, if that's the issue, it's not really a PH4 to PHP5 issue, but a difference in the PHP configuration (specifically the short_open_tag setting).

The manual seems to indicate the default is still on, but I think lots of people are turning it off now to allow the use of the <?xml...?> tag inline in PHP files.

To me, that suggests that the recommended value for developing scripts is "Off", and the recommended value for the production server is "Off."

Now, the reason that the above recommendations suggest that the default should be "On" escapes me completely. 😕
