add a font

I have a font that i want to use in a website
is there a way to use this font if i put it in the folders somewhere and when the text is displayed it can use the font i want?

I been searching, but i keep finding on how to change a font with the fonts that are reconized by html already like verdanna, arial etc..

The font i want to use is NHL Atlanta Regular

the font has to exist on the clients (users) machine. so you are best sticking with the common ones.
