Help, Trying to Create a Review Page

Hello, Im pretty new to this...

I'm working on a directory listing site. Learning as I go... Basically, each client will get their own page to promote their goods and/or services. Some clients want to give their customers a chance to write a review and some dont want this option.

I'd like to setup a page where people can write a review on a vendor's site. I'd like it to be pretty simple... Name and comment... Perhaps include a rating systems from 1-5 stars... I'd like to also include the date they have written their review.

Maybe a way to prevent people from spamming reviews would be nice too... to help reduce the junk and time to clean...

Im clueless on how to do this.. Help PLS

Well it's good thing you've started with something nice and easy! 😉

How much PHP and MySQL do you know? How much of similar OO languages? What you're trying to do can be a complex process. If you're starting pretty new with MySQL I'd seriously suggest getting a book on making CMS style PHP stuff: you can find all you need online but books have an ability to concentrate the learning I find.

If you've a decent grasp of PHP and MySQL then you'll find what you're saying is pretty easy with the toughest bit being the removal of spam compared to easy of use for customers.

Oh and that's before we consider the possibility of Astroturfing, which dogs all forms of online 'reviews': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturfing If you want people to take your site seriously then this should be a major consideration, probably starting with checking IPs of the reviewers against those of the company in question.
