Building Quiz app?

I'm fairly new to php but am hoping someone here can point me in a usable direction? Here's what I need to do:

A site I'm building in Wordpress presents some information and then has a short, 5 multiple choice question quiz which is presented on a password protected page. There's a question and then 5 possible answers, followed by a question, etc.

This is what I need to be able to do once all the questions have been answered:
1. check the user's answers against the correct answers to the questions;
2. tally a score for the quiz;
3. submit the quiz results to the site administrator;
4. upon submit, let the user know their score.

If they had a passing score, they'll be directed to a page where they print out a Certificate of Completion; if they failed to achieve a passing score they'll receive a different message, i.e, when they can retake the quiz, or something of that nature.

This sounds like it should be fairly simple and straight forward, but I'm at a loss where to begin. I've written the html for the form. Can someone point me to some information that might help. Also, any gotchas to look out for?

One option is to search the web for existing scripts you can plug in and/or modify for your use.

If you want to do it yourself, then take your functionality list, pick one item, and analyze it to see if it can be broken down into more detailed steps. Then for each step, build specific functions and/or classes to deal just with that specific piece of functionality. You can make simple, throw-away test scripts to test each function as you build it, so that you know the individual pieces work before trying to combine them. Then start putting the related pieces together, perhaps into separate include files or "master" functions/classes that utilize those pieces. Eventually when you get to the main script, it will be fairly simple itself with a bit of program flow logic while mostly consisting of include/require calls and some function calls, perhaps.

So pick which part you want to work on first, sketch out what you want to do, and start creating your functions and/or classes. When you have a specific problem on how to deal with some particular detail, come back here with your question and the code you've written to try to handle it.

As it turned out I found a Wordpress plugin to handle this more or less. With a bit of modification, I should be able to get just what I need. If not, I'll give your method a try or return for more help.
