[RESOLVED] Wrapping text with preg_replace

Hi again.

I want to wrap a match with some string (in my case, with "<strong></strong>").

From: "My girlfriend doesn't understand that programming is sex".
To: "My girlfriend doesn't understand that programming <strong>is</strong> sex".

I know it was about backreferencing, but I couldn't get it right.
Something like "<strong>$1</strong>".

Any help would be appreciated.

You can do the same thing with the "\b" word boundary assertion, and save a few keystrokes. 🙂

$p = '#\btext\b#';

Also, you might want to make it case-insensitive:

$p = '#\btext\b#i';
