Simple htaccess redirect?

I have a bunch of files that are like this:

http://www.domain.com/.a/6a01156f930d7d970c0120a5b88dee970c-320wi

Now they are all in a folder with .jpg extensions, so they look like this:

http://www.domain.com/images/6a01156f930d7d970c0120a5b88dee970c-320wi.jpg

Notice the folder and extension change.

How do I make a htaccess hack that says if someone is trying to pull anything from the /.a/ ?

I would think this would work, but it didn't

There is no reason to have to bring the ".a" directory into the picture

Sorry my mistake for some reason I was thinking the "^" would grab everything up through the last directory. But it only gets everything up to the current directory the .htasccess file is in, and for most people it is the primary web directory.

Try this instead

RewriteRule ^\.a/(.*)?$ images/$1.jpg

note the "\" it is there to escape the period (.) so don't replace it with "/"

Also do a search for "apache mod rewrite regular expression examples" I found 3 good sites in the first 10 that look to do a good job of explaining the little details of mod rewrite and regular expressions.

Hmm?

On closer analysis I am missing a "/" before the "?$". Guess that what happens when I try typing it out instead of copying and pasting it.

See if this works

RewriteRule ^(\.a)/(.*)/?$ images/$2.jpg

I did also wrap the ".a" in () just in case but they shouldn't be needed.

I put this in the ".a" folder and it looks like it's working now!
