keywords in search textbox

I'm creating a search box but I don't know how to do a code that when the user inputs a letter a keyword will appear. It is most likely an intellisense. When you type atleast a letter or a phrase, keywords will appear on the textbox. Is there any function that I can use? I wait for your replies. Thanks

It's "autosuggest"/"autocomplete". In your case, you want to suggest words that are relevant for your domain, probably from a database or text on server. That's ajax. So, google some "autosuggest jquery ajax" and you'll probably get what you'll need.

Create a simple php file which accepts a request and queries your DB with that requested keyword like this

$query = $_POST['query'];
select description from table where description like '%$query%';
echo it's result.

Create a AJAX function (javascript file) which triggers on keypress and that only when the number of characters entered in the serachbox are 3 or more.
Relate this AJAX with the above PHP.
Show the returned result exactly below the serch field. Aslo create on click events on these returned results so that user can click them and they get filled into the search field.
