mozilla: how to ensure login and password textboxes are empty everytime page loads

How do I clear the cache in Mozilla Firefox for login and password? I want the login and password textboxes to be empty everytime that page loads.

Here's a noob answer:

You can't clear some remote browser's cache. Think of the implications.

However, you can...

...use HTTP headers (header() in php) to disable that (and only that) page from being cached.
Some say that using "Expires" it's the best way.

I guess it's a combination of headers and <meta> tags.

I'm also interested, although from a person with more skills than mine.

Beyond the header solution you can also use javascript to loop through all fields and empty them.

<script>
var allinputs = document.body.getElementsByTagName('input');

for ( var i = 0; i < allinputs.length; i++) {
    allinputs[i].value = '';
}
</script>

Of course if your submit button is an input that will empty its value also. But I am guessing you can figure out how to solve that.

I read ur link to http://www.mnot.net/cache_docs/ and I decided to use
header("Cache-Control: public, no-cache");

However, I'm not very sure if this will work coz' i haven't uploaded this website to the net yet. I'm still testing it on my laptop.

Since the login and pasword was appearing during my testing, I just went to tools>options and deleted the password from the saved password list.

By the way, where should I put this header(...)? Inside <html><head> or right on top before <html> tag?

I liked ur javascript code. It gave me an idea on how to use getElementsByTagName. I have included that below header("Cache-Control: public, no-cache");

But I have to wait and see till I upload it to the net.

You need to read up on using [man]header[/man]s if you have even a blank space output to the browser before you call the header the page will give you an error.
