Popup window confirmation and submit parent

I'm trying to set up a PHP form which when submitted opens a new window summarising the information being entered and provides a Confirm/Cancel button.

On Cancel the popup window closes and the parent page remains unchanged.

On Confirm the popup closes and the form in the parent page is submitted and the page is refreshed.

I've tried various permutations if window.open, window.opener, form target etc but can't seem to get it to work.

Anybody have any ideas ?

window.open will open a window. And window.parent will let you access the parent windows objects.

It may be easier to work with a fake window.

You just simply create a div that has its "display" set to "none" and has a "z-index" greater than that of any of the sites contents. You then use a <button> with a "button" type and have it run some javascript that changes the div's"display" to "block".

And then it is real easy to style the div to look just like a browser window if you need.
