Replace selectbox with list item

Hi,

This is common:
<select name="lstTest" id="lstTest">
<option value=''>-- SELECT --</option>
<option value=1>First Choice</option>
<option value=2>Second Choice</option>
<option value=3>Thrid Choice</option>
</select>

I want to use list item instead:
<dl id="lstTest">
<dt><a href="#"><span>SELECT</span></a></dt>
<dd>
<ul>
<li value=1>First Choice</li>
<li value=2>Second Choice</li>
<li value=3>Thrid Choice</li>
</ul>
</dd>
</dl>

My question is, how can i pass the chosen list element when i press submit button in the form?

List items are not a form element, so they do not post. Alternatives to a select box are the multi-select box, check boxes, or radio buttons (you can wrap the last two in an unordered list if your concern is styling).

There may be some tricks you can do with CSS, mouse events, and Javascript but it isn't nearly worth the effort, IMO.

I've tried to use javascript in order to get the <ls> value. Then append a hidden element into the form.
Well, this may not be the perfect solution but at least can be submitted through the form...:queasy:
