[RESOLVED] magic quotes was off but still imput O'hare turns to O\'hare?

Hello, the above is from php.ini. And I called mysql_real_escape_string when insert value, O'hare turns to O\'hare, a slash was added.

I have done these many times, and no additional slash was added. but suddenly it shows up. It seems php not changes. Could mysql set up changes affect this?

The mysql set up was changed recently.

No, this isnt a MySQL problem.

If you do a phpinfo(), does the table show that the magic_quotes directives are indeed disabled?

Okay, can you show us the code you're using to insert the data into the DB?

Also, where are you seeing O\'hare? Are you viewing the contents of the DB directly (e.g. via the MySQL CLI or a GUI such as phpMyAdmin) or is it when you retrieve and display the information from the DB?

I was using codeigniter.

figured it out. CodeIgniter auto escape the characters already. Calling mysql_real_escape_string double escaped.
