Need help with colorizing in php

hello guys,

here is the problem i am facing.. all i wanna do is color an image with php..

when u press the red button the image turns red.. when u press blue image turns blue..

i found a tutorial in phpbuildersite explaining abt it .. but i couldnt make use of it very well (http://www.phpbuilder.com/columns/cash20030526.php3?print_mode=1)

so please help me out here guys ..
