Can this work?

Hi

im very new to PHo and well, coding in general so this may seem an obvious. But im trying to send send the form ive built out to different people depedning on a drop down selection tey have made.

I came across this:

HTML code:
<select name='department' id='department'>
<option value='[e-mail]'>Department 1</option>
<option value='[e-mail]'>Department 1</option>
<option value='[e-mail]'>Department 1</option>
<option value='[e-mail]'>Department 1</option>
</select>

php:
$email_to = $_POST['department'];

this actually worked fine, but im wondering if there is a way to send to more than one email address, something like:

<select name='department' id='department'>
<option value='[e-mail], [e-mail]'>Department 1</option>
</select>

That literally wont worked as ive found out, but can something similar work?

any help is very much appreciated

I would probably have the form send the selected department ID (or whatever you want to call it), and in the PHP form-handler code have logic to select the applicable email addresses for that ID, whether it be a database query or just a hard-coded array in the script. That has the added benefit of keeping the actual email addresses invisible to the user (even if he does a "view source").

I changed the option vlaues in the HTML drop down to 1,2 etc. But this script doesnt work. Anything look glaring wrong to you?

i would start debugging with

print_r($_POST);

I got the same email to the two addresses in the first array:

Mr test
[e-mail]?

hmmm yes it works! but i get the graphical error message appear in the form

Thats very weird how it sends the email but says an error caused. I'll look into it tomorrow.
