IPv4 addresses running out. What does it mean for me?

I just read this article. I've seen a great deal of IPv6 stuff mentioned in the various config files I deal with on a LAMP platform. I just find myself wondering if there's some kind of pending apocalypse for the websites I've built when the world switches over to IPv6. Obviously, I'll be googling this and reading about it. I just thought I'd ask around if anyone has any particular knowlege of this notion.

I did enjoy that part about the stars, but I think I prefer they might be giants for educational music. Full Disclosure: I was in a rock band for years.

I've had some exposure to the PHP source code -- at least inasmuch as I've been working on AMFEXT. I wonder if they IP address thing should be handled in the extensions or the core somewhere?

I've seen references to IPV6 in the hosts file and stuff on the debian machines I configure, so I bet linux is hip to IPV6. Just wondering where the nastiness lives.

Well, most core router hardware is advertised to work at higher speeds than the actual backbone speed of 10Tbit/s (40 in some places) ... and IOS and JunOS are both IPv6 ready, so it's certainly not a big deal for the big boys ... they'll just add more hardware if things slow down.

What the rest of the world will do, you're probably right. I suppose they would've at some point anyways.
