Mask the output of url bbc?

I've edited the [ url] bbcode to search certain sites rather than simply turn something into a url.

Now, I'm needing the bbcode to "hide" the link from the status bar, etc...

I don't care if we shorten or change it somehow, but it's got to be done in the following code.

Here's the bbcode:

I know it's got something to do with lines containing the href tags, but I'm so new to PHP I'm getting lost in a hurry.

Anyone care to hold my hand?

theres some javascript that can do that, but its quite pointless, why would you want to hide the url from the status bar while they can just click on it anyway?

What about shortening it or making it just " ... "?

why not, well basic usability principles, i find it useful , changing the user expect experience for no good reason is always bad idea.

As I said, I've modified the code I posted so it only links to a specific websites.
It's not doing it for any and all urls.
The code I posted is just that which I modified.

I'd really like it to be hidden.

Never mind the reasoning for why I want to do this or the opinions on it being a bad idea.

I just need to know if it can be done and, if so, how do we do it?

I'd really love some help with this...

I've been trying to integrate the following code into my mod somehow, but I'm lost.
Everything I've tried breaks the forum...

I need my LMGTFY mod to not only point to lmgtfy, but to create and get its resultant url from tinyurl.

I've found this floating around the net:

I just wanted to add that I know it's got something to do with the following line in my mod:

And these lines derived from the code in my above post:
