[RESOLVED] Error when connecting to database

Could you help me out. What causes this error?

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Too many connections in /var/www/bg/includes/core/db_functions.php on line 12
Could not connect to the database server: #1040 "Too many connections"

And how do i resolve it?

It's exactly what it says ... there are too many open connections to the server.

Is it a shared server, or do you control it? Any chance that you are opening connections and not closing them? If not, and it's shared, maybe someone else is. You may wish to contact the administrator of the server in regards to this. If it is a shared server, check the hosting company's documentation to see what sort of limits they set on the number of available connections.

One possibility: if you have some sort of loop performing a query on each iteration, make sure you do your database connection only once, before that loop starts.
