use bold in a php bot!!

hi, i am a student and am new to php.and am learning how to make php bots.

i made this simple php bot and tested on imified which just repeats what the user says:

echo "You said: " . $_REQUEST['msg'];
?>

but i want the user input to be in bold but the reply in normal text.

eg:-

You: hello
mybot: You said: hello

i have tried everythin by using bold tags in every possible place but it doesnt work.
so can somebody please help me??

PHP is a server-side language, so it doesn't know what "bold" text is let alone how to create it.

What you're after is a client-side behavior, so the answer is: output whatever is needed to achieve that client-side behavior. If you're output is rendered as HTML by the client, for example, then you'd simply need to surround the text in the appropriate HTML markup (e.g. <b> or <strong> tags).

i understand what u mean by server side and client side.
but the bit i didnt understand is how to achieve it. is it even possible?

When returning a response to an incoming message, you may use HTML formatting. IMified will send both a plain text and html formatted version to an end-users IM client and will strip formatting if the endpoint is twitter. Developers should listen for the "network" form field and respond accordingly for better formatting control.
