This really isn't a PHP question, but if there's an answer I figured someone here would know. I have IE9 installed, and I need to test out of a class. The only way to do it for this one is through some website that requires IE7 or IE8. Is there any kind of way of tricking it into thinking that IE9 is IE8?
IE Workaround
this is ok - lets you run 6 ,7 and 8:
http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage
it crashes quite often but gets the job done if you're only doing final checks on layout
Thanks, but the thing is I don't need it for testing, I need something for an actual site.
I'm sure this thread is long dead, but for anyone who has this problem in the future, the answer is to change the User-Agent header sent by the browser (as long as there are no javascript checkers). This guide is related to IE8, but I'm sure it will point you in the right direction.
The other solution would be to have a bunch of Virtual PC machines running, each with different versions of IE installed - but it seems a bit extreme just for testing compatibility.
