PHP/MySQL select question

I have a DB with two tables. A customer table with name, address, phone, etc. and a order table with their order.

The order table may have 6 records that are linked to the customer with an invoice number.

What I want to do is to be able to edit, or even just display the customer info and all the orders, whether it be one or ten items.

Example:

Bob Smith, 10 This Street, This City, USA
Shoes 10.00
Coat 5.00
Scarf 2.00
Gloves 2.88

How would I go about doing this. I remember something about doing a select and then using a foreach, but not sure how this works, or if there is a better way.

Any info is appreciated.

There are several variations, but generally this is a scheme that looks something like the following:

   die("Couldn't connect or select database.");
}

$customer="Foobar"; // this is coming from somewhere, probably from a POSTed form

$query="select * from orders where customerid='$customer'"; // your table names and vars will differ, of course

$result=mysql_query($query);

if ($result) {
   while $row=mysql_fetch_array($result) {
   // your formatting will vary, of course.
      echo "<br />Somelabel: ".$row[0]."<br />Another label: ".$row[1];
