Any match between strings

Hi,

I want to preform a if statement to check if there is any match here, i guess it's a preg_match but i don't understand the patterns at all. Can someone help?

For example in this example there is betcause cricket is in both

$String1 = "Eden Park cricket fans left at gate";
$String2 = "Cricket Rugby League Netball Football";

But here there isn't

$String1 = "Golf: Immelman ready for new beginning ";
$String2 = "Tiger Woods Vijay Singh";
