XAMPP - Can't open PMA after changing port

I have a similar problem and i have found a partial solution (but i'd like a better one).

My situation is this, i manage many projects most of which are xampp/php based but i got this new one that is ASP/IIS so i need to run both IIS and XAMPP on the same machine. I've managed to get them technically working together by going into the xampp config files (as well as the vhost and httpd.conf files for my virtual hosts and changed everything over to port 81. i don't completely know how i did it i just wend and changed everywhere it said 80 to 81. here is an example of a vhost entry:

<VirtualHost :81>
ServerName www.portfolio_local.com
ServerAlias portfolio_local.com .portfolio_local.com
DocumentRoot C:/xampp/htdocs/dallascaley/

</VirtualHost>

so when i want to go to this particular site i type it into the browser like this:

[url]www.portfolio_local.com:81/[/url]

My problem is mainly an annoyance. The problem is when i go to my xampp control panel and click admin on apache or mysql i get a page not found error. Its easy to get to the correct location by simply adding the :81 like so:

http://localhost:81/phpmyadmin/

but its stupid and annoying, how can this be fixed? there must be some place where phpMyAdmin stores its admin page location right?

I've never used (nor advocated the use of) XAMPP, but you'd have to look through the application/interface and see if you can reconfigure it to expect the webserver to be listening on a different port other than the standard pot 80.

If there isn't such an option, then your solution would be to ditch the XAMPP interface (or XAMPP altogether 😉). If you really want some "one-click" method of opening PMA, then just drag a shortcut to the URL above to your desktop/Start Menu/whatever.

Please note sir moderator that i was not asking if ADVOCATED using XAMPP or not, i was simply attempting to enlighten the original poster of my possible solution to his problem. I believe that i may in fact have given him/her some insight and i was in no way trying to hijack is thread.

As i had a similar problem i figured it might be good to put this into a thread that already existed, perhaps just possibly we could help each other considering that he/she posted this several months ago and has likely found a solution that i might use as well.

Please also realize that your forum here is among thousands that i could possibly access to get solutions to my problem and i will not likely come back when some [person] thinks that he has some sort of god like power just because he has been made moderator of a forum. and if i'm not making myself clear [...] i have important things to do in the meantime.

Yes please notify the sysop and have me removed i'm obviously not of the same caliber as most of your users.

Oh and addendum, perhaps if you don't have a solution to the problem you should just [bake a cake]?

I realize you weren't "asking if ADVOCATED using XAMPP or not" which is why that wasn't the theme of my post.

That's great, but since you were talking about your own configuration, and even asking questions about it, it seemed to me like you wanted responses about your issue as well. Thus, I moved your post into its own thread so that this could happen.

I suppose that could have been a possibility (before your little tantrum, that is). I meant to leave a note in the other thread with a link to yours (to complete the join - note the link I added in your post so that it wouldn't seem out of context) but got sidetracked and forgot. My apologies.
