Don't wish to start an argument here, but WAMP is NOT the way to go.
Get the x86_32 versions of all the MSI installers, and install MySQL first, run through the instance configuration wizard, then reboot. Then install Apache, standard options will do. Then install PHP, making sure you point it to the correct folder for the Apache config files.
Also, be aware that certain extensions will require additional libraries in order to work, and if these files are missing it will often prevent the Apache service from restarting.
I have set up probably 50-60 machines in exactly this way, at least 3 Win7, and rarely have problems, but you should do things in that order.
