Parsing values from a hard drive

Is it possible to search a computer for certain values and if the values are found create a log and email them to the admin using php ?

That depends. Is PHP running on the computer in question? If so, then it may be possible (i.e. it would depend on ACL/security settings; the PHP process would most likely need to be run as an Administrator to access all files/folders). If not, it's most likely not possible.

What about parsing through the browser history. Or will I need to use client side scripting like js.

"js" ? More like a virus or some other form of malware, since what you're describing is one of the key traits of malware.

Sorry i do not want to make a virus.
The reason I wanted to parse through the browser history. Is to find out if kids are going to sites that they are not suppose to and if they do go ahead and send a email to the parent.

Sounds like you need to use one of the many software solutions out there to either monitor and/or filter Internet content.

I say that, because regardless of how you view your intentions, what you are describing is software that is malware/spyware by definition.

Ok ,Well I dont want other peoples history I only want to get the history of a specific computer. I want people to sign up on my site and check there computers history to see if their kids are looking at things that they were not suppose too.

in short, you can't via php or any other remote application, you need to write something that runs on the specific computer, as pointed out, there are many of theses already in existence.
