Blog software where any number of members can start their own thread

I've been asked to install blog software on a site and they want any number of members to be able to start their own threads
So it's not a one person blog where comments can be added - it's a collection of individual stories

I've used Wordpress to do something where me and four friends can add blog posts for our own music/photos.. but I find the interface clunky

This needs to be straightforward to use as some users will be elderly or disabled people

Anyone have any recommendations or is Wordpress the best bet?

It sounds like the same effect as having every member get their own blog, and then you aggregate the blogs.

Probably wouldn't be hard (relatively speaking) to tack on a posting interface to WordPress or other PHP-base blog package. For all I know there's already a plug-in out there for that. 🙂
