tags article php mysql

I'm looking for a tutorial or script (php and mysql) on how to construct tags attached to each article, like cloud tags but I don't want clouds, just straightforward tags.

I'm not sure how relational tables work or the concept of it but here it is what I think:

id_article article_title id_tag
13 education system changes 33
33 how to homeschool 13
45 baby communication 46,47,48
46 kid games 13
47 start healthy, stay healthy 48
48 development milestones 46,47
etc

I guess this concept works the same as "related pages" links.

Output:

article #45
[content...]

Tags or related topics:
"kid games" (linked to article 46), "start healthy" (linked to article #47), "develop milestones" (lined to #48 article)

If anyone knows a clear tutorial or script that you can refer me to, that'd be great. Or, if you have a script that you can paste it into here, it'd be cooler!

Hi,

It looks like you are describing a 'many-to-many' relationship. That is, an article can have 'many' tags associated with it, and a tag can be associated with many articles.

The standard way to think about this is to have three tables:

The two flat tables ...

article_table { article_id, article_title, etc. }
tag_table { tag_id, tag_title, etc. }

... and a third relationship table ...

article_tag_table { article_id, tag_id }

Try googling something like 'db many to many tutorial' for more details.
