Variable naming

Hi all:

When coding a page with multiple SQL queries on it is it best practice to reuse $stmt each time (as long as the prior $stmt is closed) or is it best practice to use $stmt1, $stmt2, $stmt3 etc.

Furthermore...let's say you are binding some parameters and have a variable associated with your 1st $stmt called $params. When you close $stmt1 it does NOT close/empty $params, so for your NEXT $stmt you would need to call the variable $params2 (or something to that effect), right?

Am I thinking about this correctly?

Not sure I follow what you're asking on the 2nd (params) part, but if you feel a need to have different statement variables, then use meaningful names, e.g. $userListStmt, $topicsStmt, $postsStmt instead of $stmt1, $stmt2, $stmt3. Or, just wrap up the entire process in a function or object method that returns the result, and don't worry about how statements are named. 🙂
