I have a list of existing images in a folder, I would like to get the "file created" of the image. How would you retrieve this through php?

What do you mean the "file created" ? Do you mean the time that the file was created on the local filesystem? If so, take a look at the following note on the man page for [man]filectime/man:

Note also that in some Unix texts the ctime of a file is referred to as being the creation time of the file. This is wrong. There is no creation time for Unix files in most Unix filesystems.
