Some session variables not being passed

Hi,

I hope someone can help me. I have a kennel booking system and I pass session variables through the booking process, it's all ok except for some values are not being passed. I'll try and explain.

At the Confirmation screen I echoed the session variables immediately BEFORE moving to the 'Thank You' page, a selection of the variables are below.

Key: from_ymd; Value: 2011-06-21
Key: to_ymd; Value: 2011-06-28
Key: daysX; Value: 8
Key: dailyX; Value: 79.20
Key: bankX; Value: 26.40
Key: xmasX; Value: 39.60
Key: additionalX; Value: 0.00
Key: dailyXexVat; Value: 90.2
Key: bankXexVat; Value: 22
Key: xmasXexVat; Value: 33
Key: total_costX; Value: 145.20

When I get to the 'Thank You' page the variables now look like this
( I get there with

header("Location: booking_form_thanks.php?t=dog");

and I echoed immediately after the session stuff shown below)

Key: from_ymd; Value: 2011-06-21
Key: to_ymd; Value: 2011-06-28
Key: daysX; Value: 8
Key: dailyX; Value: 0.00
Key: bankX; Value: 0.00
Key: xmasX; Value: 0.00

As you can see some of the numeric values have been reset.
I have no code to reset or change the values from one page to the next and it's making me smack my head against the wall.

I have the following at the top of EVERY page (I've commented out the path for security)

session_save_path('/xx/xx/xx.com/xxx/pathsess');
session_start();
extract ($_GET); extract ($_POST);

Any help or advice please?

you need to post the code you use to set and retrieve the sessions

I would have thought all the info was in my original post?
It shows the Session variables immediately before leaving a page and then immediately on reaching a page.

I use

foreach ($_SESSION as $key => $value) {
    echo "Key: $key; Value: $value<br />\n";
}

to print the seesion variables.

Well, what would you answer if I asked why

echo $x;

outputs

since I expected it to output "tree"? I have shown you the output, and I have shown you the code that performs the output.

As for your question, there is an unlimited number of possible answers that gives your result. One of the possible answers is that your thank you page looks like

session_start();
$_SESSION = array(
	'from_ymd' => '2011-06-21',
	'to_ymd' => '2011-06-28',
	'daysX' => '8',
	'dailyX' => '0.00',
	'bankX' => '0.00',
	'xmasX' => '0.00',

One thing you might try is to call [man]session_write_close/man on the page where you set the session variables just before you call header() to perform the redirect.

It's funny how you seem to be security conscious, and yet you then proceed to use [man]extract/man to mimic the highly deprecated "register_globals" PHP directive (see [man]security.globals[/man] if you don't know why that's a bad thing).

you try disabling the session_save_path so use the default one

I would get rid of those extract calls. It's a pain to refer to $GET and $POST arrays, but it makes your code a LOT clearer.

And yes, if vars are getting over-written, it will be important to see all the code or the code you leave out could be the code causing the problem.
