Maintaining scroll position with multiple forms

Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:

I have a database with many software licenses for different software products. frame on left has list of products. Click on product and all its licenses with associated hosts are listed. I have it so a user can edit the license inline. I added some javascript in so the page would maintain scroll position.

When I click to edit a line, the scroll position is not maintained, $REQUEST['ScrollX'] and $REQUEST['ScrollY'] are listed as undefined.

HOWEVER, when I click to submit change, The scroll position IS maintained, and I can't figure out why.

I'm hoping someone can help.
