Hi, I apologize in advance if I am posting in the incorrect place, or if im asking a silly question that has an obvious answer elsewhere.
and I suppose for possibly leaving out important information.
My forum was running smoothy until one day all users suddenly became unable to log in, myself included. My admin account still works, and as far as I can tell has full functionality. I believe one of my global moderators while being stupid changed something...what I do not know. I am a php virgin.
the last logs of this silly mod are as follows:
Sat Jul 16, 2011 4:04 am Altered load settings
Sat Jul 16, 2011 4:02 am Altered security settings
Sat Jul 16, 2011 3:47 am Successful administration login
Shortly there after every single user became unable to log in.
For all I know this has nothing to do with the problem, but it seems suspect. I have changed every setting in those two categories I can think of, to no avail.
Every user gets the same typical error message:
"You have specified an incorrect password. Please check your password and try again. If you continue to have problems please contact the Board Administrator."
Resetting passwords does nothing, changing them as admin does nothing. I have checked my database and the hashed passwords do change when I change a user's password, but the users are no more able to log in with their new passwords than they were with the old.

And forgive my members for their obvious stupidity.
My main source of confusion comes from the fact that my original admin account still logs in fine, no other members I give admin authority to however are able to log in. I would guess that passwords and usernames are not even being checked before being rejected if not for the fact that the admin account seems fine.
It is worth noting that the previous owner of the website gave all the hosting/ftp/everything else info to a bunch of people, all of whom could have been mucking about, but as the forum its self seems fine I don't think thats suspect.
